PILLARS OF ISLAM
There are Five Pillars of Islam, which are considered to be the foundation of Muslim faith and practice. The Five Pillars are:
Shahada (Declaration of Faith) - The declaration of faith is the statement of belief that there is no God but Allah and that Muhammad is his prophet. This is the central creed of Islam and the first and most important of the Five Pillars.
Salah (Prayer) - Muslims are required to pray five times a day, at specific times, facing towards the Kaaba in Mecca, which is considered the holiest site in Islam. Prayer is a way to connect with Allah and seek his guidance and forgiveness.
Zakat (Charity) - Muslims are required to give a portion of their wealth to the poor and needy as an act of charity and to purify their wealth. This is typically done by giving 2.5% of one's savings and income to those in need.
Sawm (Fasting) - Muslims are required to fast during the month of Ramadan, which is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. This involves abstaining from food, drink, and other physical needs during daylight hours as a way to demonstrate self-discipline, purification, and empathy for those who are less fortunate.
Hajj (Pilgrimage) - Muslims who are physically and financially able are required to make a pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in their lifetime. This involves performing a set of specific rituals and practices over a period of several days, which are intended to symbolize the unity of Muslims around the world and their devotion to Allah.
